There are tons of events happening all around us everyday which could range from the smallest soccer game of a local school team to the biggest soccer world cup final. The common thread in all these events is that they attract a crowd. And these people of course drive to these events to attend them. That means a whole lot of cars too reach the venue. Most of the time it happens that people drive separately unaware that their next door neighbor might also be driving to the very same event.
Now just imagine a situation where you live in San Jose and a Giants baseball game is happening in AT&T Park in San Francisco that can seat around 40000 people. You are quite thrilled and don’t waste time in purchasing a much coveted ticket to watch this game. Now if you plan to drive to this game then you have to start a couple of hours before the game starts even though the venue is just 40 miles away. This is because you can anticipate the likelihood of the city teeming with baseball crazy fans like you and this would probably be the cause of huge traffic jams all over the city. In spite of having an early start you still just make it at the nick of time after going through all these hurdles and park your car in one of the Park’s packed parking lots. The parking ticket alone costs you a good whopping $44.
Once the parking is taken care of you let out a deep, full breath and proceed towards the field to finally watch the game. After a mind-blowing, exhilarating experience of watching your favorite game, you are getting ready to start your journey back home. But, Alas!, here comes the real problem. When you are trying to retrieve your car from the parking lot, out of the blue it strikes you that it’s going to take a lot more longer because so many vehicles are coming out of the parking lot in a rush and all of them are in a hurry to get back home. Now after maneuvering your car with a lot of trouble out of the parking lot, you are stuck again because the city is jam-packed. And it takes you almost 2 long hours to get out of the jam. Now sitting in this pollution and traffic jam you can feel all the excitement of watching the game slowly ebbing away from you, leaving you tensed and thinking, “why can’t I reach home in time. I have to go to work tomorrow.” When you think back you wonder what you gained except a lot of frustrations and a booming headache, and to top it all a royal waste of your precious time and energy.
Have we ever thought of solutions to this kind of man-made problems? Do we ever think of simple ways through which a whole lot of stress, time and energy could be saved? This is the kind of scenario where the dynamic concept of carpooling comes into action. Events like this one can be a big avenue for carpooling. So assuming that most of the people who are able to attend these kind of events are local (meaning people who live at a drivable distance from that particular location) then there is a very good possibility that there are a whole bunch of people who are driving to these events from the same place. So events of these kinds can be a very big avenue for people who are looking for opportunities to be able to carpool. The thought that, is it worth all the trouble prevents you from really enjoying the wonderful event. But you know that you could have avoided all that if you would have decided to carpool to this event. To put it simply, instead of 3 cars on the road and 3 parking lots you can manage with one. And just think of all that you save by doing that.
