Every morning when I wake up in the morning and I think about the future of carpool matching system, I get very excited. I get very excited to think what a carpool matching system can do to the world. How it can change the way people travel today, reduce the consumption of non-replaceable natural resources, increase our rapidly reducing social interaction with people and push the human extinction farther because of reduction in rate of alarmingly increasing global warming !!
Think about the wonders it can do when a platform like this is used by masses from littlest developed town to most advanced city. Statistics tell us that in United States, 75% vehicles are transporting only the driver of the car from point A to point B. If we assume that all these vehicles are at least 5 seaters, now assuming that we could help people form carpools and now suppose each car is carrying at least 4 passengers then think about the reduction of the vehicles on the road, if my math is correct then we can say that there will be around 54% less vehicles on our roads which is almost half the vehicles. Now imagine what will happen if we suddenly take half of the vehicles off the roads, would not you like that situation. What this reduced number of vehicles can do to peak hour traffic jams !! What it can do to parking problems in cities like Manhattan or Chicago. What this reduced number can do to our increasing demand of gas and our increasing dependence on Arab countries and their throwing tantrums to our governments just because they are sitting on a oil rich land. Now we need only half the amount of gas so now as a country we can save half the money that we spent on buying expensive gas from Arab countries and trust me that it is going to be huge amount of money that we are going to save. Think how much national debt we can reduce we save that kind of money. States like california can save themselves from bankrupcy because of half saved money. These are just some of the tangible benefits of reducing vehicles on the road. We have not yet even talked about the intangible benefits to the nation because of these carpool matching systems.
